Clinical Practice with Transgender and Gender Nonconforming People

9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Within the last two decades, there has been increased interest about TGNC people. This increase in knowledge, informed by the TGNC community, has resulted in the development of progressively more trans-affirmative practice across the multiple health disciplines involved in the care of TGNC people. This workshop is targeted for BHPs who will encounter TGNC people in their practice as a way to assist them in the provision of culturally competent, developmentally appropriate, and trans-affirmative practice. It is also for those with expertise in this area to help them maximize the effectiveness of services offered and avoid harm when working with TGNC people and their families. This workshop addresses the strengths of TGNC people; the challenges they face; ethical and legal issues; life span considerations; assessment, therapy & interventions; and, research, education, and training.

Confidentiality and Its Limits: Mandatory Reporting of Child/Elder Abuse & Duty to Warn/Protect

1:00 - 4:00 pm

Behavioral health professionals are advocates for their clients. As such, they may provide primary therapeutic intervention, support to families, information, and be a major source of protection. Since reporting of child and elder abuse is mandatory for mental health professionals, it is incumbent to be familiar with the Arizona mandatory reporting law, A.R.S. §13-3620. This continuing education workshop will review confidentiality and its limits and what is required of those who reasonably believe that one may be a danger to self and/or others or that a minor or vulnerable adult has been the victim of physical injury, abuse, or neglect.

Check-in with time for networking begins at 8:00 am.

There will also be time for questions and answers.

Boxed lunch and refreshments are included with your registration.

Cost: $49 To Register: call 480.948.7460 ext. 133 or email counseling@thecasa.org
