AzCA 2019 Counselor Annual Conference – Featured Speaker David Engstrom, PhD
Welcome David Engstrom, PhD to our distinguished list of speakers for the 2019 Counselor Annual Conference. David will present a session during the pre-conference on Friday, January 25 titled The Body Always Listens: The Impact of Childhood Trauma on Chronic Illness. He will also present a session on Saturday, January 26 with Dr. Jean Miller titled The Value of Therapeutic Presence and Mindfulness in Counseling. David Engstrom, PhD, is a board-certified Clinical Health Psychologist in Scottsdale, Arizona. He is a Core Counseling Faculty member at the University of Phoenix where he is also Lead Faculty Advisor. He did his doctoral work at the University of Southern California and his special interests include integrative healthcare, chronic pain, sleep disorders and mind-body approaches to physical disorders.

AzCA Clinical Supervision Training January 26-27, 2019 in Scottsdale
This two-day training will provide participants with 12 hours of education in supervision methods, models and techniques, roles and responsibilities of a clinical supervisor, techniques specific to supervising counselors in the tasks of diagnosis, treatment planning and providing treatment and evaluation of supervisees in their work of assessment, treatment planning and providing treatment. This training will also cover the ethical guidelines and legal requirements for supervisors, using the 2014 Code of Ethics from the American Counseling Association and the most recent Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners statutes and rules. Participants can choose to attend a one-day training which will provide 6 hours of education reviewing supervision methods, models and techniques, roles and responsibilities of the supervisor and provide opportunity to practice in providing feedback and evaluation to supervisees in their work.
