AzCA Webinar Series Continues on May 8
Our webinar series is held throughout the membership year, both live and on-demand. Fellow AzCA members and counseling profession experts will provide members with valuable and current information to enhance and better the counseling field. Each webinar is typically held on a Wednesday from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Arizona Time. Webinars will be 45 minutes in length, with 15 minutes of Q&A at the end. Our next webinar, Parenting Coordination: A New Frontier for Professional Counselors, is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8 at 11:00 am Arizona Time.
Parenting Coordination: A New Frontier for Professional Counselors
High conflict families make up a relatively small percentage of the 1.2 million divorces that occur each year in the United States. Yet, these families also seem to utilize the lion's share of resources available through the courts for conflict management. Parenting coordination is an out-of-court intervention designed to facilitate communication between feuding parents, manage conflict, and keep children out of the middle. Due to their unique training and holistic approach, professional counselors are well situated to serve as parenting coordinators with high conflict parents during and after divorce. However, parenting coordination remains a relatively untapped market for counselors. This workshop will focus on unique character traits associated with high conflict families, offer an overview of the parenting coordination role, and highlight why professional counselors are well suited for the role.
Ann M. Ordway, JD, PhD, is a core faculty member with the on-campus Counselor Education Department at the University of Phoenix. Dr. Ordway is a family mediator, child advocate, and parenting coordinator. She is an active member of the American Counseling Association and has presented Learning Institutes at the annual conferences four years in a row. Ann is a Trustee for the Association of Creativity in Counseling, and the Chair of the Emerging Leaders Committee for the International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors.

Not Talking About Mental Health Is Literally Killing Men
Our mission at MensHealth.com has always been to help men build themselves into better men. Stronger men. Healthier men. Rooted in science and expert opinion, our content translates dense topics into easily digestible, actionable health advice. Piecemeal, the concepts are sound and effective. But overall health must be viewed holistically.
One of the most integral components is your mind. Your mental health is inseparable from your physical health. Not a revolutionary concept, but what is astounding is the stigmatization that still surrounds men who dare to talk about their mental struggles. As we move into Mental Health Awareness Month this May, we hope to change that.
