Every counselor has a unique story as to why he or she pursued this profession. We advocate for our clients and students, and this is our opportunity to advocate for ourselves and the profession. Our volunteers are the heart of our organization, and we need you! As an active member of the Arizona Counselors Association, there are ample opportunities to encourage the development of the counseling profession while promoting professional identity.

Become a Board Member
The Arizona Counselors Association is always looking for highly motivated individuals that are seeking to promote the development of the counseling profession.
The Governing Board meets monthly and consists of the following positions:
The Executive Committee meets every other month with the Governing Committee and consists of the following positions:
- Faculty Representative
- Student Representative
- Northern Chair
- Southeast Chair
- Southwest Chair
- Membership Chair
- Government Relations Chair.
All positions are a yearly commitment and elections are held every June for the new term.

Join a Committee
Conference Planning Committee
The Arizona Counselors Association hosts an annual conference every Spring. This committee identifies a theme and secures a keynote speaker, reviews presentation proposals, obtains sponsors and location, in addition to marketing the event. Networking Breakfast Committee
The Arizona Counselors Association provides continuing education units to the Tucson Quarterly Networking Breakfast. The goal of this committee is to establish a Networking Breakfast in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. The committee is responsible for locating an appropriate facility, obtain sponsors, select and schedule four speakers to present for 1.5 hours, and marketing the event. Internship Symposium Committee
This committee bridges the gap between graduate students and internships sites. The committee is responsible for locating a facility to host the event, scheduling, and extending an invite to all schools and universities that offer graduate counseling programs, and mental health/ chemical dependency treatment facilities that accepts interns. Day at the Capital
This committee reports directly to the Government Relations Chair and is responsible for developing an Institute for Leadership Training, which includes a Day at the Capital. Participants will assist the Government Relations Chair in identifying current legislature that affects the counseling profession, both positively and negatively. The committee will schedule a day for counselors state-wide to come and speak with their representatives regarding which way to vote for legislation; market the event via social media, email, and word of mouth campaigns; and assist members in locating their representatives via individual zip codes. Counseling and Wellness Journal
The Arizona Counselors Association is proud to co-sponsor the Counseling and Wellness Journal with the Beta Alpha Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota at Northern Arizona University.
Counseling & Wellness is a national, refereed professional online counseling journal that provides a forum for current Masters and Doctoral level Counselors-in-Training from active Chi Sigma chapters to share original research related to effective counseling practices and/or the articulation of research findings related to wellness, well-being, positive psychology and adaptive personal adjustment in counseling contexts. C & W can be searched via Google Scholar, and previous editions can be found by Clicking Here.
The 2017 edition of C & W is scheduled to be published in the summer of 2017.
